Torn
To prove her sanity she must discover the truth.
Janine, an unconscious eighteen year old girl is pulled out of a river having fallen from a bridge. She can remember nothing except that she was pregnant, from her boyfriend, a Scandinavian lorry driver nearly twenty years her senior. When the police investigate, they can find no evidence of the lorry driver ever existing and begin to believe she is suffering some kind of posttraumatic stress disorder. Unable to locate her baby they soon suspect her of infanticide.
Refusing to believe their allegations, Janine escapes from hospital to prove her innocence and find her baby. She soon finds herself in a remote snowbound community in the north of Norway, where she meets Johan, a disillusioned ex-policeman who offers to help her. However Johan has a lot of enemies and owes money to a local loan shark who jeopardises Janine’s trust in him. Johan and Janine’s fiery relationship escalates as they fall deeper and deeper into danger. Eventually they have no choice but to trust one another.
Now both on the run from police, they track down the mysterious lorry driver to a remote cabin and discover that it is in fact his wife behind the web of lies and deceit. But when Johan attempts to confront the childless couple, he is attacked, leaving Janine to fight her baby’s captors alone. In a desperate and chilling conclusion, Janine proves that a mother will do absolutely anything to protect her child from evil.
