Star Wars - The Spoof

Starring: Derek Boyes, Richard Wilkinson, Chris Eldridge, Miles Watts and Oliver Kneesbeck

This was a competition to re-enact a scene or scenes from 'Star Wars' lasting longer than one minute. I adapted four scenes from the film and as a homage to Lucas, I attempted to express filmmakers struggle for independence against the Hollywood system. The 'force' became the 'Lucas', the 'Empire' became 'Hollywood' and the 'Rebels' became young new independent filmmakers. It soon became a cult hit in Bradford and is my most popular film on you tube with over half a million views.

The entry was successfully published in CVG - Computer Video Games magazine in 1993. But the prize (a trip to California for a tour around Skywaker Ranch) fell through. In 1997 it was eventually seen by George Lucas' daughter Amanda Lucas and Rick McCallum, the Producer of the prequels, who told me that I could go to Skywalker Ranch anytime. In March 2005, while attending a film Festival in Tiburon, I finally got the tour.

In 2002 we continued our homage and produced a tenth anniversary special edition, remastering the orginal video 8 footage to dv and adding more digital effects including glowing lightsabres, blast doors and laser fire.
