This was the first time I had been commissioned to direct a short film for television, shooting almost 7 pages a day with a crew who were on loan from the BBC´s afternoon soap Doctors. Although it enabled me to demonstrate professionally that I can work fast, I found it frustrating. With this type of television you are not allowed the time or control to add the kind of detail that could turn a perfectly acceptable BBC afternoon play into something more exciting.
