This was my second attempt at telling a story about a girl trapped in drug dealing and prostitution (The first being Talk To Me). But on both occasions I was reluctantly encouraged to tone down the violence by my tutors, turning both films into more gentle and moving character driven dramas. Although In-Between was my most praised film by tutors at the NFTS, it was not the film I had intended to make.
